Cabernet Franc

Find on this page all the wines made entirely or partly from the Cabernet Franc grape variety. Now planted all over the world, it is believed to have originated in the southwest of France. It is therefore not surprising to find it as early as the 1st century in the Bordeaux region, where it is now particularly prevalent and often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (especially in Saint-Émilion and Pomerol). In France, it is also widely grown in the Loire Valley, where it is the almost exclusive red grape variety for many renowned appellations such as Chinon, Saumur-Champigny, Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil.Depending on its region of cultivation, its aromatic profile varies, but it often produces wines with a beautiful tannic structure, notes of red and black fruits, and sometimes a distinct vegetal character reminiscent of bell pepper that some people love!
