I’m Maxime, founder of La Cave Éclairée. I created this online wine shop with one simple idea in mind: to share the wines that have stayed with me, the ones you open with pleasure and immediately want others to discover.

To me, wine is also about encounters, curiosity and moments shared with others. That is the spirit I wanted to bring to life through La Cave Éclairée.

The beginning

From a passion for wine to an independent online wine shop

La Cave Éclairée grew out of years of tastings, encounters and a conviction that gradually became impossible to ignore: I wanted to turn my passion for wine into my profession.

2020

Building my expertise

After years of discovery, curiosity and meeting people from the world of wine, I decided to turn that passion into my profession and trained at the École des Vins et Spiritueux.

2021

The creation of La Cave Éclairée

La Cave Éclairée was born from one clear conviction: wine should be easier to understand and enjoy, without ever compromising on quality.

More than 350 wines and spirits personally selected, thousands tasted every year, hundreds of wineries and winemakers met, and personal guidance for my customers every step of the way.

How I work

A selection where nothing is left to chance

Every bottle has to earn its place and be one I can recommend with complete confidence.

Tasted before it is selected

Every wine has to pass the taste test first. No matter how prestigious the producer may be, what matters is the quality of the wine and the impression it leaves in the glass.

Putting winemakers first

I favour genuine winemakers who are deeply connected to their terroir and the land they work, with particular attention given to organic and biodynamic practices.

Clear, straightforward advice

My role is to understand what you enjoy and guide you towards the right wine, one that suits both the occasion and your budget. Clear, straightforward advice, without making wine more complicated than it needs to be.

Behind every bottle

An independent wine shop, with genuinely personal advice

Behind La Cave Éclairée, there is no buying group and no automated selection process. I taste the wines myself, speak directly with the producers, write all the advice you see on the website and personally answer your questions.

This independence allows me to recommend each bottle for what it truly is, rather than because it simply needs to be sold.
