The wine: Château Calon-Ségur is simply one of the absolute references of the Saint-Estèphe appellation and one of the most beautiful estates in the Bordeaux region. At a level worthy of the Premiers Crus Classés, this 2015 vintage expresses a marvel refinement and charm. Aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, plum, blackberry) rub shoulders with spicy notes of licorice, pepper and cinnamon, all accompanied by a delicious minty freshness  as well as oaky notes of great finesse (cedar, vanilla, roasting etc.). The tannins are already melted and the texture is silky and delicious. The length continues for very long seconds for our greatest happiness. A complete success for an anthology moment!

The estate: The Château Calon-Ségur is the Grand Cru Classé located furthest north in the Médoc. If Calon designates the commune of Saint-Estèphe,Ségur comes from the Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, president of the Parliament of Bordeaux in the 18th century and owner (at the time) of the Lafite and Latour castles . At the end of the 19th century, the estate passed into the hands of the Capbern-Gasqueton family who sold it in 2012 to the Suravenir insurance group. Since then, considerable work has been carried out both in the vineyard and in the winery and the property has experienced a meteoric rise of which few Bordeaux Grands Crus can boast. The fans are not mistaken and the bottles are snapped up. Calon-Ségur and its 55 hectares of Quaternary gravel terroir and clayey subsoil now represent the elite of the region.
