Merlot

Find on this page all the wines made entirely or partly from the Merlot grape variety. First appearing at the end of the 18th century in the Bordeaux region, it is the most widely planted grape in the area and is very often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is particularly common on the right bank, especially in appellations such as Pomerol or Saint-Émilion. Outside Bordeaux, it can also be found in the South-West (Bergerac), Languedoc-Roussillon as well as in many countries internationally such as Argentina, Chile, Australia, or the United States.Its great success is partly due to the fact that it allows for the creation of wines with an immediate fruitiness that is very pleasant and accessible as well as age-worthy wines when blended. It often exudes aromas of ripe red and black fruits (cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant) supported by fairly light tannins.
