The wine : The Château Pontet-Canet is a true pioneer in the world of Bordeaux Grands Crus. The estate actually converted to biodynamics as early as the 2010 vintage and all 81 hectares are used here to produce a single, unique Grand Vin, proving the wonderful quality of the terroir of this 5th Grand Cru Classé. This 2017 vintage is characterized by superb energy as well as an elegant mouthfeel to perfection. Remarkably fragrant, this cuvée also offers silky tannins as well as a very complex aromatic palette: red and black fruits, beautiful freshness on the palate, notes of leather, undergrowth...quite simply grandiose!

The estate : The history of Pontet-Canet began in the 18th century thanks to Jean-François de Pontet, Grand Écuyer of Louis XV. Three centuries later, the estate now belongs to the Tesseron family, a renowned name in Bordeaux. Jean-Michel Comme, the estate manager, implements the siblings' vision through total quality requirements in the vineyard and winemaking, as well as absolute respect for nature. Since 2010, Pontet-Canet has been a pioneer in the region since the 81 hectares of the estate were officially converted to biodynamics.  Moreover, no tractors are allowed in the vineyards, only horses, to avoid compacting the soil. The cellars have also been completely renovated and the yeasts used in winemaking are indigenous. Château Pontet-Canet is also known for aging part of its wines in amphorae partly made from components of the soil from its own land to push the expression of the place to the maximum in the wines. This human, environmental, and viticultural approach allows the Tesseron family to produce Pauillac wines marked by freshness and a very distinctive energy, while maintaining magnificent aging potential.
