The wine : The Château Trotte Vieille is certainly one of the greatest wines of Saint-Émilion. This Premier Grand Cru Classé of the appellation is indeed considered a great classic and is praised by enthusiasts for its elegance, its indulgent character as well as its great aging potential. Notes of ripe red and black fruits (cherry, raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant) mingle here with a very noble oakiness bringing a touch of spice (vanilla, cedar, roasted notes etc.). The tannins are soft and round, enhancing the pleasure of tasting. A cuvée of great aromatic richness  that will evolve beautifully over the years!

The estate : Curious name, this Château Trotte Vieille, isn’t it? Legend has it that several centuries ago, a lonely old lady lived in the area. As she made many trips back and forth to the nearby post relay, the place eventually took its current name. Beyond this charming anecdote, the real winemaking history of the estate began in the 15th century. Then, while the following centuries saw the owners multiply, it was finally the Castéja family who took over in the 1960s. Today, their magnificent vineyard extends over 12 hectares and is characterized by a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc (46%, including more than 3,000 pre-phylloxera vines), complemented by Merlot (still the majority at 49%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion continuously since 1955, Château Trotte Vieille is recognized as one of the greatest successes of the region. Discover this iconic property of the Bordeaux right bank !
