AOC Pomerol
The Pomerol AOC is located on the right bank of Bordeaux and borders the Saint-Émilion appellation. Spanning 800 hectares, the area does not have an official classification unlike its famous neighbor or the Médoc region. Nevertheless, many estates rival the great châteaux found in these renowned hierarchies, such as the world-famous Château Pétrus. The terroir of the appellation stands out from the surrounding areas due to a significant presence of clay soils. The grape variety Merlot reigns supreme here, accounting for nearly 85% of the plantings. The wines are renowned for being highly seductive, combining an indulgent, refined, and intense fruitiness with a full-bodied and velvety texture.
