The estate : The Chavy are a great family of winemakers from Puligny-Montrachet. In 1997, brothers Alain and Jean-Louis took over the estate from their father, Gérard Chavy. In 2003, they decided to create two separate vineyards and thus divided the family estate equally. Today, Alain manages 10 hectares of vines, mainly in AOC Puligny-Montrachet, where he has numerous premier cru plots^er cru as well as a few rows of vines on the legendary Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet. The harvest is done by hand, the soil is clay-limestone, and the wines are generally aged for 1 year in barrels before being completed by 6 months in tank to bring everything together. The cuvées are all of an excellent standard and finesse as well as minerality are the common markers of Alain Chavy's wines.
