Grenache noir

Find on this page all the wines made entirely or partly from the Grenache Noir grape variety. Originally from Spain  (probably Catalonia), where it is called Garnacha or Garnatxa, this grape crossed the French border in the 15th century and is now  widely grown  throughout the Mediterranean basin as well as internationally. It is very prominent in the Southern Rhône Valley in appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-PapeCôtes-du-Rhône but also in Provence where it is used in particular to produce red wines as well as rosé wines, often blended with Syrah and Cinsault. Finally, it is also very prominent in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, particularly in AOCs such as Terrasses du Larzac, Minervois, Pic-Saint-Loup, and Maury, where it is used to produce exceptional sweet natural wines. On the palate, it is relatively low in tannins, offers a beautiful roundness (it has a high alcohol potential), and delivers delicious red and black fruit aromas along with spicy notes.
