The wine : Château de Beaucastel is without a doubt one of the iconic references of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. This delicious vintage reveals a bouquet of red and black fruits (blackcurrant, strawberry, blackberry) combined with tasty spicy notes ranging from cinnamon to cloves, pepper, licorice and chocolate. The palate is here structured but silky and terribly harmonious. A refined wine with remarkable length which will only fully reveal itself at its peak, after a few years of aging. Pairings with red meats, game and simmered dishes are the key here!

The estate: The Château de Beaucastel extends over 100 hectares of vines, 3/4 of which are in AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape (the remaining 1/4 being in AOC Côtes-du-Rhône). The property has a terroir with porous soils, composed mainly of rolled pebbles and has been the first vineyard of the Rhône Valley certified in Organic Agriculture  since 1964.  The estate is also one of the only ones to use the 13 grape varieties authorized in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in its wines.  Directed by the Perrin, iconic family of the region, Château de Beaucastel simply represents the elite of its appellation and enthusiasts snap up the property's vintages year after year.
