The wine : Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels specially selected by the master cooper of the Muga estate and assembled on site, this Spanish vintage is a magnificent reflection of the Rioja appellation. Complex and refined, it develops notes of plum, spices (pepper, cinnamon, licorice) and is delicately enhanced by just the right touch of oak bringing a hint of vanilla, toasty notes and a touch of evolution towards leather. Full of finesse and elegance, you can open this great Spanish bottle now, but it will only get better after a few years of cellaring. Cheers!

The estate : Family estate founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, Bodega Muga is today a true emblem of Spanish winemaking and especially of Rioja. Now owning 250 hectares (and also sourcing from 150 ha of partner winegrowers), the estate is the only one in the country to have its own coopers, allowing it to perfectly master the aging of its wines by adapting the types of wood and barrel toasting to the personality of each wine. The Tempranillo grape is the star of the estate, alongside Grenache, Mazuelo (Carignan), and Graciano for the reds. Discover their authentic, elegant, and generous wines representing the best of the classic style of the Rioja region.
