The wine : How could you not appreciate this top-tier Pic Saint-Loup from Sylvie Guiraudon ?! In line with her other cuvée Rien ne m'effraie, this seductive blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre nevertheless possesses greater aromatic depth as well as more power, all while maintaining the freshness characteristic of the estate's wines. Here, beautiful Provençal spices (garrigue, thyme, pepper) mingle with charming notes of dark fruits (plum, blackcurrant, blackberry) as well as a touch of black olive. The tannic structure is also more pronounced, though very indulgente, and will allow this wine to be cellared for more than a decade. Personality, finesse, and character are the key words of this beautiful novel and this great story!

The estate : When she decided in 2006 to take over the operation of an estate in the AOC Pic Saint-Loup, naysayers would not have bet on the success of Sylvie Guiraudon, a shy woman who was then a sales manager in a media group.It was without counting on her determination, her thirst for learning, her enthusiasm, and the unwavering support of her husband Alain. Today, Sylvie manages organically and brilliantly the 17 hectares of vines of la Chouette du Chai. These are surrounded by forests of oaks, strawberry trees, and junipers interspersed with garrigue areas where great biodiversity reigns. 13 hectares flourish on a clay-limestone terroir around 200m altitude, while the remaining 4 are located around 320m, on a limestone area with a younger terroir. This elevation allows the different grape varieties to benefit from significant temperature variations between day and night, giving the wines superb balance. Like the owl, her totem animal, Sylvie Guiraudon has a definite taste for discretion; here, it is her wines that speak for her... so listen to them!
