The wine: Located on the heights of Savigny-Lès-Beaune, the place called Les Champlains is characterized by poor, very stony soil. The exposure here is sunny and allows the Decelle & Fils estate to produce this delicious Hautes-Côtes de Beaune white, perfectly balanced between minerality and deliciousness. The latter is notably provided by aging carried out partly in oak barrels. Aromas of hawthorn and peach mix here with woodiness, bringing a beautiful substance as well as buttery and vanilla notes. The estate: Founded in 2009 by Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Languedoc, Boisseyt vineyard in the Rhône, Château Jean-Faure in Saint-Émilion) and Pierre-Jean Villa (famous winemaker from the northern Rhône Valley), the estate was initially called Decelle-Villa. Following the latter's departure in 2020, the operation changed its name to become Decelle & Fils. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the house now has 7 hectares cultivated organically on the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The twenty vintages produced from the different appellations perfectly express the diversity of character of Burgundy's terroirs and climates.
