The wine : What a delicious success this Madiran Vieilles Vignes (Old vines) from Château Bouscassé is ! Made from vines averaging 80 years of age, this 100% Tannat impresses as much with its power as with its finesse. An incredible aromatic concentration is on display, enhanced by 16 months of aging in new oak barrels. Notes of black fruits (blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry, plum) intertwine with an exquisite spicy character (pepper, garrigue, licorice), along with well-integrated oak bringing hints of vanilla, cedar, and chocolate. An elegant and refined wine with great aging potential. Perfect pairings include duck, red meats, and game.

The estate : There is no need to introduce Alain Brumont. An iconic figure of the Madiran appellation, he has managed in 40 years to bring his estates to the top of the South-West region and highlight the incredible potential of the local Tannat grape variety.

It all began in 1979 when he inherited the family's 17 hectares of Château Bouscassé. Then, in the early 1980s, he acquired Château Montus and met Baron Philippe de Rothschild at Château Mouton-Rothschild (Grand Cru Classé of the Pauillac AOC): this was the turning point. Particularly inspired by their exchanges, he now openly displays his vision of producing great wines in Madiran, an appellation then mainly known for its rustic wines.

The first vintage of Château Montus in 1982 caused a sensation: the press praised the work accomplished while the French and international markets discovered a noble, powerful wine with definite aging potential. Since then, he has never stopped searching for and selecting the best terroirs of his native region.Today, heading up 250 hectares, Vignobles Brumont continues to be an absolute benchmark throughout the South-West, and Alain, although still involved, has now handed over the reins of the estate to his son-in-law Antoine Veiry. Discover their magnificent cuvées here, you won't regret it !
