Spanning over 11,000 hectares, the Protected Geographical Indication primarily produces colorful, fruity, and powerful red wines. The most common grape varieties here are Negroamaro and Primitivo, but many other varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and even Aglianico can also be used. White wines, rosés, and even dessert wines can also be produced in this magnificent area framed by the sea and benefiting from a particularly sunny Mediterranean climate.
