Protos - Ribera del Duero - '27

The wine: Cuvée '27 was created in 2017 in order to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Bodegas Protos. Initially imagined as an ephemeral cuvée, it was so successful that the estate decided to continue producing it. So here is a powerful cru from the Ribera del Duero, highlighting the old vines of the vineyard located on the most beautiful terroirs of the appellation. We delight in its ripe fruit (cherry, plum), its spices (pepper, cinnamon), its generous and gourmet woodiness (vanilla, coconut, clove) and its endless length. Already accessible, this nugget is nevertheless cut for laying down and can be kept for 15 years and more!

The Domain: Protos is a major historic entity in wine-growing Spain. Created in 1927 under the name "Ribera del Duero" (when the appellation did not yet exist), the company is the result of the union of 11 Spanish winegrowers wishing to reveal the quality of their terroirs to the world. In 1982, when DO Ribera del Duero was founded, the estate then gave it its name and changed its own to "Protos", meaning "First" in Greek. Today, the farm covers 1400 hectares and the brand is exported all over the world. Its generous and authentic wines are recognized and praised by amateurs and professionals.
