The wine: The '27 vintage was created in 2017 in order to celebrate 90 years of Bodegas Protos. Initially imagined as an ephemeral vintage, it was so successful that the estate decided to continue producing it. Here is a powerful vintage from Ribera del Duero, highlighting the old vines of the vineyard located on the most beautiful terroirs of the appellation. We delight in its ripe fruits (cherry, plum), its spices (pepper, cinnamon), its generous and delicious woodiness (vanilla, coconut, clove) and its endless length. Already accessible, this nugget is nevertheless made for keeping and can be kept for 15 years or more!

The estate: Protos is a major historical entity of wine-producing Spain. Created in 1927 under the name “Ribera del Duero” (a time when the appellation did not yet exist), the company is the result of the union of 11 Spanish winegrowers wishing to reveal to the world the quality of their terroirs.  In 1982, when the DO Ribera del Duero was founded, the estate then gave it its name and changed its name to 'Protos', meaning 'First' in Greek. Today, the operation covers 1,400 hectares and the brand is exported all over the world. Its generous and authentic wines are recognized and praised by amateurs and professionals.
