Fruity red wines
The fruity red wines of France offer intense notes of red and black fruits, bringing freshness and indulgence to every tasting. Whether you are looking for a red wine from Bordeaux, Rhône, a fruity wine from Languedoc-Roussillon, or an Alsace cuvée with citrus aromas, La Cave Éclairée offers a varied selection at all prices and with a wide choice of organic cuvées.
Whether they are white, red, or rosé, fruity wines are particularly appreciated for their appealing taste flavors and are often easily identifiable for the taster.
Fruity white wines
Fruity white wines from France, like some Alsace wines or from Loire, develop notes of green apple, citrus (lemon, grapefruit), white and stone fruits (peach, pear, apricot, plum, mirabelle) or even exotic fruits (mango, pineapple, passion fruit, lychee).Fruity white wine is ideal for pairing with seafood, fresh cheeses, or light dishes.
For those who prefer accessible and refreshing fruity wines, the red wines from Loire and Languedoc are an excellent option. With a range of prices, there is always a bottle of fruity wine that matches your desires and budget !
Where do fruity aromas come from?
The presence of fruity notes in a bottle of wine depends on three main factors.
The grape variety
Some grape varieties naturally tend to express fruity aromas. In white wine, the Sauvignon, the Chenin from Loire and the Gewurztraminer from Alsace are among the most expressive, offering notes of citrus, exotic fruits, or even white-fleshed fruits. These grape varieties can be found in renowned estates such as, for example, the Bernard Fleuriet & Fils estate, which excels in producing aromatic whites from the Sauvignon grape variety in the Sancerre AOC.
In red wine, several grape varieties are renowned for their fruity palette. The Pinot Noir, emblematic of Burgundy, produces fine and elegant red wines, often marked by aromas of cherry and raspberry.
The Gamay, king of Beaujolais, captivates with its explosion of red fruit notes.
In the Southwest, the Malbec expresses mature and plum notes, especially in the wines from domaine Alain Brumont, known for its intense and deep reds. The Cinsault, appreciated for its freshness and crispness, brings gourmet touches to Mediterranean blends.
In the red wines of Bordeaux, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon play key roles in the complexity and balance of the blends. These grape varieties are enhanced by passionate winemakers, working with precision to reveal their full aromatic richness in the bottle.
Winemaking
If some grape varieties express so many fruity notes, it may also be due to their winemaking method. Thus, aging in stainless steel tanks or in concrete tanks, neutral containers that do not impart any aromas to the wine (unlike wood), will be perfect for bringing out fruit aromas ! Furthermore, rather cool fermentation temperatures also enhance fruity aromatics.
The age of the wine
If you wish to drink a fruity wine, choose a rather young wine ! It is indeed during this initial period that its "fruit potential" will be the highest. You will have much more difficulty detecting fruity aromas in wines that are 10 or 20 years old !
Tips for properly tasting fruity wines
The tasting of fruity wines depends on the type of wine chosen.
To fully appreciate a fruity white wine, serve it well chilled, between 8 and 10°C. This highlights its citrus and exotic fruit aromas while preserving its liveliness. This type of wine pairs perfectly with seafood, grilled fish, and goat cheeses.
A fruity and light red wine is ideally enjoyed between 14 and 16°C to preserve all the freshness of the red and black fruit aromas. The more structured fruity red wines and tannic ones are preferably served between 16 and 18°C as the cold hardens the tannins, making the tasting less pleasant.
These red wines pair well with grilled meats, Mediterranean dishes, or even charcuterie boards.
Finally, for a fruity rosé wine, serving between 8 and 10°C reveals all its indulgence and aromatic balance. Light and refreshing, it is perfect for aperitifs, summer salads, and spicy dishes.
