The estate: Located in Wettolsheim near Colmar and founded in 1985 by Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès by uniting their family vines, the domaine Barmès-Buecher is today one of the jewels of wine-growing Alsace. The conversion to biodynamics took place in 1998 and it is their children Maxime (viticulture and winemaking) and Sophie (communication and sales) who today mainly take care of the 18 hectare property. 95% planted in white (mainly Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris), and growing on a large mosaic of terroirs specific to Alsace (clay-limestone, marl-sandstone, granite etc.), the family vineyard produces very pure and with good aging Capacity, particularly for all Grands Crus. The yeasts are obviously indigenous and very little low sulphites doses are used in winemaking.
