The estate : Located in Wettolsheim near Colmar and founded in 1985 by Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès by merging their family vineyards, the Barmès-Buecher estate is today one of the flagships of Alsatian viticulture. The conversion to biodynamics took place as early as 1998, and it is now mainly their children Maxime (viticulture and winemaking) and Sophie (communication and sales) who manage the 18-hectare property. Planted 95% in white (mainly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris), and spread over a great mosaic of terroirs unique to Alsace (clay-limestone, marl-sandstone, granite, etc.), the family vineyard produces very pure wines with a lovely aging potential, especially for all the Grands Crus. The yeasts are, of course, indigenous and very little sulfur is used in winemaking.
