The estate : Located in Wettolsheim near Colmar and founded in 1985 by Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès by merging their family vineyards, the Barmès-Buecher estate is today one of the flagships of Alsatian viticulture. The conversion to biodynamics began as early as 1998, and it is now their children, Maxime (viticulture and winemaking) and Sophie (communication and sales), who are mainly responsible for managing the 18-hectare estate. With 95% of the vineyard planted with white varieties (mainly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris), and spread across a large mosaic of terroirs unique to Alsace (clay-limestone, marl-sandstone, granite, etc.), the family vineyard produces very pure wines with excellent aging potential, especially for all the Grands Crus. The yeasts are, of course, indigenous, and very little sulfur is used during winemaking.
