Sémillon
The white grape variety Sémillon is renowned for its great versatility and its ability to produce delicious white wines ranging from dry to sweet. Originally from the Bordeaux region, it is distinguished by a thick skin as well as a high suitability for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which notably contributes to the production of the famous sweet wines of the Sauternes AOC. Also used in the creation of dry, rich, and complex white wines, Sémillon is notably found in the Entre-deux-mers AOC, Bordeaux and Pessac-Léognan.The aromas of Sémillon vary depending on the style of wine produced: notes of stone fruits (peach, apricot) and citrus for dry wines, and aromas of honey, candied apricot, and roasted peach for sweet wines. Still within the Bordeaux region, it is often blended with Sauvignon Blanc and sometimes with Muscadelle. Embark on a journey to discover this remarkable variety—you will be won over!
