Sangiovese (Nielluccio / Niellucciu)

Find on this page all the wines made entirely or partly from the Sangiovese grape variety, also known as Nielluccio (or Niellucciu in Corsica). Originally from Tuscany in Italy, it is the king grape of the Chianti appellation, where it is often blended with other minor varieties such as mammolo, canaiolo, cabernet-sauvignon or merlot. Still in Tuscany, it is the only grape variety allowed in the DOCG Brunello di Montalcino and enables local winemakers to produce exceptional wines of class and longevity. In France, it can be found in the Corsican vineyard under the name Niellucciu and is notably the main grape variety of the Patrimonio appellation. This noble variety produces wines of great power and significant tannic potential, capable of aging gracefully for several decades when matured for a long time in barrels.
