Located mainly to the south of the city of Angers, the Anjou AOC produces red wines and white wines over approximately 2,500 hectares. The soils are schist and limestone (with the presence of tuffeau stone) and the climate of the area is oceanic but experiences little rainfall throughout the year. The leading white grape variety is chenin (supplemented by up to 20% chardonnay and sauvignon), as well as cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon for reds (supplemented by up to 30% pineau d'Aunis, grolleau and gamay). The wines of the region are therefore very diverse, but often display a beautiful, fruity easy-drinking and seductive character for the reds, while the whites offer concentrated and lively palates with fruity and floral aromas. The Ogereau estate is a perfect example of the region’s finest achievements!
