The AOC Mâcon is located in the south of Burgundy and covers nearly 4,000 hectares, planted with Chardonnay for more than 90%. 27 communes can produce Mâcon-Villages by specifying their name on the bottle. Excellent white winesare produced here, generally showing a fleshy and indulgent profile and presenting a sunnier character compared to those produced in the north of the region. The terroir is clay-limestone but more siliceous soils also allow the grape varieties Pinot Noir and Gamay to thrive in the south of the appellation. Most of the wines produced are intended to be consumed within three to five years.
