The Minervois AOC is located across two departments: Aude and Hérault, and covers 5,000 hectares, between Carcassonne and Béziers. The vineyard is one of the largest in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and mainly produces red wines (83%), as well as rosés (14%) and whites (3%). The climate here is warm and dry and the vines are protected from northern winds by the Montagne Noire. The appellation’s terroir is schist-based but also clay-limestone. The main grape varieties used are grenache, syrah and mourvèdre for reds, as well as grenache blanc, malvoisie, maccabeu and also marsanne and roussanne for white wines.Wines generally express a lovely fruitiness and can have a certain aging potential if they come from the best plots.
