AOC Chablis

The Chablis AOC is the largest appellation in Burgundy. It actually covers 4,150 hectares, of which around 800 are classified as Premier Cru (Vaucoupins, Montée de Tonnerre, etc.) and 100 hectares as Grand Cru, including the renowned Grenouilles and Vaudésir. The soils in this area are particularly rich in limestone and the climate here is continental. Chardonnay is the only grape variety permitted. The white wines produced are especially distinguished by mineral aromas and a lovely acidity. The finest plots offer cuvées with greater roundness and depth.
