Key words: Richness / Minerality / Complexity
The wine: The 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is a plot which is characterized by a south exposure, allowing the grapes to bathe in the sun throughout the day. This terroir, coupled with a skilfully measured aging by the Garnier brothers, give to this vintage a delicious roundness. Notes of butter as well as vanilla can indeed be perceived on the nose as well as on the palate. Nevertheless, we are here in Chablis and the minerality of this great wine shines through immediately, accompanied by a classy fruitiness evolving on citrus fruits, green apple and pear. The finish is saline and lasts for many seconds. A magnificent Premier Cru to open with fish in sauce or langoustines!

The estate: Located in Ligny-le-Châtel, to the north of Chablis, the domaine Garnier & Fils is a family property run by two brothers: Jérôme and Xavier. One in the cellar, the other in the vineyard, the two partners each have their own field of action on their 30-hectare vineyard exclusively located within the AOC Chablis and Petit Chablis. The Premiers Crus and Grands Crus come from grape purchases from partner winegrowers. Be careful though, here the selection is strict and the plots are chosen carefully in order to create great terroir wines! The aging is no less subtle, varying between stainless steel vats, tuns and oak barrels, without ever heavily marking the wines. The yeasts used for fermentation are indigenous and only a very light filtration is carried out before bottling in order to have as little impact as possible on the vintages.
