Founded in 1838 in Aÿ, the Deutz house is one of the great historic estates of Champagne.Created by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, two Prussian merchants, the brand quickly established itself thanks to the elegance and consistency of its champagnes. The direct descendants of William and Pierre-Hubert managed the company until 1993, the year in which the Rouzeau family (Champagne Louis Roederer) acquired it.
While Deutz now owns around forty hectares of vineyards, the majority of the brand's supplies come from carefully selected partner winegrowers. 80% of these purchases are also made in Premier Cru or Grand Cru villages, an undeniable guarantee of quality. It should be noted that the harvest from the house's own vineyards is not only used in the high-end bottles (such as Amour de Deutz) but also in the "Classic" cuvée and the Rosé.
Today, Deutz embodies a classic, refined, and consistent style, appreciated by both enthusiasts and professionals. The brand is also often recognized by the Hachette guide as well as the RVF guide (Revue du Vin de France).
Deutz benefits from a historic presence in one of the most prestigious terroirs of the Champagne appellation. The vineyard is mainly spread over plots located in Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, with a predominance of Pinot Noir from the slopes of Aÿ, renowned for their depth and structure.
Deutz also attaches essential importance to the quality of the harvested grapes. Each harvest is thus subject to rigorous selection in order to preserve the identity of the estate, and the winemaking is carried out with precision to respect the expression of the Champagne terroir.
The extended aging in the company's historic cellars also helps to refine the texture of the cuvées and to develop the aromatic complexity of the different references, whether it is the Brut Classic or the vintage bottles (Amour de Deutz, Blanc de Blancs etc.). This maturation in the cellar encourages the emergence of aromas of ripe fruit, brioche, and almond, while maintaining tension and balance.
