The Chassagne-Montrachet AOC is an appellation of the Côte de Beaune covering more than 300 hectares, about half of which is classified as Premier Cru (55 climats) as well as three Grands Crus. More than 70% of the wines produced today are white wines made from the chardonnay grape variety, while the remaining 30% are reds made from pinot noir. The vineyard is located between 220 and 305 meters above sea level and has clay-limestone soils. The white wines produced here are among the most renowned in the entire region and the world, generally offering a superb balance between minerality and aromatic power.
