The AOC Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, neighboring the Bourgueil appellation , is located between the cities of Angers and Tours and covers just over 1,000 hectares. The wines produced here are predominantly red with a small amount of rosé, both made from the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The terroirs are mainly composed of sands and gravels as well as tuffeau (limestone). The produced cuvées generally express beautiful fruity notes that are smooth and full of finesse, delighting enthusiasts of the genre. On certain terroirs, the wines express more presence and character, allowing them to be easily stored for several years in a cellar, as is the case here with the Fondis cuvée from Clos des Quarterons.
