AOC Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil

The Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AOC, neighboring the  Bourgueil appellation, is located between the cities of Angers and Tours and covers just over 1,000 hectares. The wines produced here are predominantly red with a small proportion of rosé, both made from the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The terroirs are mainly composed of sand and gravel as well as tuffeau (limestone). The cuvées produced generally express  beautifully fruity supple and refined characteristics, delighting enthusiasts of this style. On certain terroirs, the wines display greater presence and character, allowing them to be easily cellared for several years, as is the case here with the Fondis cuvée from Clos des Quarterons.
