Created in 1990, the DOC Valpolicella is an appellation located  within the  Veneto region, in the northeast of Italy. Reserved for red wines, its main grape variety is Corvina (minimum 45%), often accompanied by Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara. Other minor varieties can also complement them in blending. The vineyards span valleys, plains, and hillsides, covering the equivalent of 6,000 hectares.Several types of wines are produced here: classic still red wines under the DOC Valpolicella and the DOCG Valpolicella Classico (representing the historical heart of regional production), the famous Amarone della Valpolicella (a red straw wine of incredible power), the Valpolicella Ripasso (a powerful red wine with a beautiful roundness, undergoing two fermentations), and finally the Recioto della Valpolicella, a delicious sweet red wine. Discover this beautiful region thanks to the high-quality family estate Le Calendre which will introduce you to the superb local flavors!
