DOC Valpolicella Classico

Created in 1990, the DOC Valpolicella is an appellation located within the Veneto region, in the northeast of Italy. Reserved for red wines, its main grape variety is Corvina (minimum 45%), often accompanied by Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara. Other minor varieties may also be included in the blend. The vineyards stretch across valleys, plains, and hillsides, covering approximately 6,000 hectares.Several types of wines are produced here: classic still red wines under the DOC Valpolicella and DOCG Valpolicella Classico (representing the historic heart of regional production), the famous Amarone della Valpolicella  (a red straw wine of incredible power), Valpolicella Ripasso (a powerful and beautifully rounded red wine that undergoes two fermentations), and finally Recioto della Valpolicella, a delicious sweet red wine. Discover this beautiful region thanks to the high-quality family estate Le Calendre which will introduce you to the superb local flavors!
