Philipponnat Champagne

The Philipponnat family settled in Champagne as early as the 16th century, in 1522. Now located at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, the house is led by Charles Philipponnat, who passionately continues this centuries-old family expertise. The estate covers 20 hectares classified as Premier Crus and Grand Crus, including the legendary Clos des Goisses, a magnificent 5.5-hectare plot with chalky, very steep soils facing due south. Philipponnat champagnes draw their richness from a  dominance of Pinot Noir  as well as from the significant use of reserve wines aged in barrels. Discover now the excellence and elegance of the champagnes from this historic house, a symbol of authenticity and refinement.

Philipponnat Champagnes: the elegance of a great Champagne estate

Located at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the Philipponnat house embodies Champagne expertise worldwide. Each bottle of champagne here reflects the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, offering wines of character, precision, and generosity.

The house is particularly renowned for its exceptional vineyard, consisting of 20 hectares of its own exclusively in Premier and Grand Cru villages, including 5.5 hectares on the legendary Clos des Goisses, considered one of the greatest plots in the entire Champagne AOP.

Prestigious cuvées for all lovers of great champagnes

The Philipponnat range stands out with iconic cuvées such as the Réserve Perpétuelle Brut (formerly "Royale Réserve Brut"), a symbol of elegance and consistency. Its variation Réserve Perpétuelle Non Dosé (formerly "Royale Réserve Non Dosé ") is a magnificent Brut nature (or zero dosage) of great purity. Philipponnat focuses its style on Pinot Noir and a certain vinosity, as well as the significant presence of reserve wines, hence the name change of the classic cuvées to emphasize this point.

Fine wine enthusiasts will also appreciate the Philipponnat rosé champagne, delicate and fruity yet offering plenty of character and aromatic depth.

The range also includes a Blanc de blancs as well as a Blanc de noirs vintage, aged for a long time on lees (minimum 6 years) and benefiting from a light dosage (Extra Brut). The Blanc de noirs oscillates between finesse and power while the house's 100% Chardonnay offers a creamy and mineral profile, always with plenty of character and precision.

Then come the two cuvées "1522", white and rosé Extra Brut. The Philipponnat house here pays tribute to its heritage and to the year when the family settled in Aÿ five centuries ago. 1522 blanc Extra Brut thus stands out for its precision, depth, and minerality, while 1522 Extra Brut rosé develops in a more indulgent style, revealing notes of small red fruits, pomegranate, and spices. These two champagnes are rare, produced in limited quantities, and appeal to customers seeking a unique tasting experience.

Finally, we have reached the top of the range: the legendary Clos des Goisses. Comprising 5.5 hectares of extraordinarily steep slopes, this plot allows for the creation of a champagne sought after by enthusiasts and collectors. Its power, depth, and aging potential make it an exceptional wine. The Clos des Goisses undoubtedly stands out as one of the greatest wines of Champagne.
