AOC Mercurey

The Mercurey appellation is located within the Côte Chalonnaise and covers approximately 650 hectares, of which 25% are classified as Premier Cru. The AOC produces predominantly red wines (over 80%), although excellent white wines are also made within its appellation area. The reds offer very rich and fleshy aromas, while those from the best terroirs display greater aromatic depth and a certain tannic presence. The chardonnays often develop a fruity and rather round profile, although some plots beautifully highlight the minerality of their clay-limestone terroir.
