The wine : This delightful Côte Rôtie from Domaine Gaillard comes from a blend of steep parcels on the Côte Blonde (gneiss terroir) as well as the Côte Brune (schist soils). Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (30% new), this great wine from the Rhône Valley shows a superb balance between power and elegance. The tannins are silky, the texture is rich and notes of blackberry, cherry, plum, and violet mingle with a beautiful spicy structure (pepper, cinnamon, vanilla) and oakiness. The whole displays great harmony and will be enjoyed at the table with white and red meats. In summary, a great Côte Rôtie!

The estate : Gaillard is certainly one of the greatest names in the Rhône Valley. Heading four estates (two in the Rhône Valley and two in Languedoc-Roussillon), the family’s historic vineyard is nevertheless that of the Domaine Pierre Gaillard. With 25 hectares, it covers the finest appellations in the north of the region, notably Condrieu and Côte Rôtie. Arriving in 1981, Pascale and Pierre Gaillard now work with their three children and offer wines full of finesse and elegance that every enthusiast should (re)discover. Syrah, Viognier, but also Marsanne and Roussanne are lovingly and passionately cultivated here on predominantly schist and granite terroirs. Discover their cuvées, you won’t be disappointed!
