The Estate: The Origin of Castle Meyney dates back to the 17th century, when the Fathers of the Couvent des Feuillants made the first plantations. With the Revolution, the estate passed into the hands of the Luetkens family before being acquired in 1918 by Désiré Cordier. The property will remain in the family until 2004 but due to financial difficulties, it will finally be sold to Crédit Agricole through the company CA Grands Crus. Since then, a major restructuring plan has been undertaken and the wines have only progressed. Neighboring Montrose, the 51-hectare vineyard in one piece benefits from an exceptional gravelly terroir with a thick vein of blue clay in the subsoil, like at Pétrus! A place where Cabernet-Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (10%) flourish wonderfully. Here is a nugget from Saint-Estèphe that has regained its former glory!
