At the Parusso estate, the identity of the wines is based on two emblematic grape varieties from Piedmont: Nebbiolo and Barbera.
The Nebbiolo is the flagship grape variety of the prestigious crus of Piedmont, notably Barolo and Barbaresco. Its name comes from "nebbia", meaning "fog" in Italian, in reference to the autumn mist that envelops the vineyards during harvest. It is a variety that produces highly structured wines, with powerful yet refined tannins. Typical aromas include cherry, raspberry, rose, truffle, and spices. With age, it develops tertiary notes of cocoa, tobacco, and undergrowth, making it a grape variety with great aging potential.
Barbera is, for its part, a historic variety from Piedmont, cultivated since the 17th century. Unlike Nebbiolo, it is a grape variety that produces more accessible and fruity wines, often consumed young. The acidity is generally lively and the palate offers dominant aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry), plum, and sometimes prune. Spicy and slightly woody notes appear depending on the aging.
