The Philipponnat family settled in the 16th century (1522) in Aÿ and founded the eponymous Champagne house: it was the beginning of a long family adventure that continues to this day. Since 2000, it is indeed Charles Philipponnat  who continues to extend this historic family expertise. Now heading 20 hectares all classified as Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, the brand also owns the very renowned Clos des Goisses, a superb plot with a chalky terroir of 5.5 hectares facing due south. The style of the house is decidedly marked by Pinot Noir, predominant in all the cuvées, except for Blanc de blancs.The wines are also influenced by the significant use of reserve wines (25 to 35%) aged in barrels, imparting a great aromatic richness to the blends.
