The wine : Masterful ! Aged for 36 months in oak barrels, this cuvée L'Auguste X delights us with its power as well as its aromatic depth. This unique wine, from century-old vines (planted in 1902 and 1908), stands out as a true UFO of the region. We savor its powerful fruity notes yet elegant (cherry, blackberry), accompanied by a deliciously integrated oakiness as well as a touch of violet and spices. Quite simply superb in complexity,  length and with a huge aging potential ! In short, a great Gamay.

The estate : Winemakers for 7 generations, the Bodillard family now owns 14 hectares spread over 7 villages between Beaujolais and Mâconnais. Some cuvées are already certified Organic and all will be in the coming years. The diversity of the plots allows the estate to cover a wide diversity of soils (granite sands, schist, etc.) and thus to produce wines with varied characters. 95% of the plots are south-facing and the red winemaking is Beaujolais-style (carbonic maceration) to bring out vibrant fruit. Renaud Bodillard offers cuvées with simple, easy-drinking fruit as well as deep and complex wines capable of aging for several years, even decades, in the cellar.
