Buy Gamay wines

Find on this pageall the wines made entirely or partly from the Gamay grape variety. Very probably originating from Burgundy (a hamlet called Gamay exists near Saint-Aubin in the Côte de Beaune), this It was very established there during the Middle Ages. Nevertheless, Philip the Bold decided to banish it in the 14th century, describing it as a "vile and disloyal" plant, leaving the region in the hands of the famous Pinot noir. Our Gamay was therefore confined further south, within the Beaujolais region, where it still flourishes marvelously today, in particular thanks to a terroir mainly granitic. Thus, all the red wines of the region's appellations are made with Gamay: Saint-Amour, Fleurie, Brouilly, Morgon etc. Particularly known for its delicate fruitiness and as drinkable as you want, notably obtained by carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration, this grape variety can also offer beautiful wines for laying down with a nice power (even if not very tannic) when it is worked on small yields and aged "à la Bourguignonne". Note that it is also found in certain appellations of Loire as a secondary grape variety.
