The wine : Located at the very north of Beaune, the Clos du Roi is undoubtedly one of the most iconic premier crus of its appellation; it owes notably its name to the many royal tables that have welcomed it over the centuries. The vines of Domaine Decelle & Fils here are over 50 years old and the harvested grapes produce, year after year, intense, aromatic wines with great aging potential. On tasting... it is simply just an enormous sensation awaiting you! Power and complexity emanate on the palate, where deep spicy aromas immediately stand out (pepper, clove, star anise, etc.). A fruity (cherry, blackberry) full of ripeness and precision also blends beautifully with a very charming toasted bread note brought by 18 months of barrel aging. An exceptionally long finish concludes the tasting of this brilliant cuvée, making it a real favorite ! A bottle you won't forget!

The estate : Founded in 2009 by Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Languedoc, Vignoble de Boisseyt in the Rhône, Château Jean-Faure in Saint-Émilion) and Pierre-Jean Villa (famous winemaker from the north of the Rhône Valley), the estate was originally called Decelle-Villa. Following the latter's departure in 2020, the business changed its name to become Decelle & Fils. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the house now has 7 hectares cultivated organically on the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The twenty or so cuvées produced across the different appellations perfectly express the diversity of character of Burgundy's terroirs and climates.
