The estate : Located in Wettolsheim near Colmar and founded in 1985 by Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès by merging their family vineyards, the Barmès-Buecher estate is today one of the jewels of Alsatian winegrowing. The conversion to biodynamics began as early as 1998, and today their children Maxime (viticulture and winemaking) and Sophie (communication and sales) are mainly in charge of the 18-hectare property. Planted 95% with white varieties (mainly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris), and spread over a great mosaic of terroirs unique to Alsace (clay-limestone, marl-sandstone, granite, etc.), the family vineyard produces very pure wines with excellent aging potential, especially for all the Grands Crus. The yeasts are, of course, indigenous and very little sulfur is used in winemaking.
