The wine : This delicious second white wine from the renowned Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a firm favourite of ours! Made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc, it reveals a less familiar side of the grape, distinguished by remarkable aromatic richness. The palate is lush and creamy, with notes of butter, vanilla and oak. Lovely ripe peach and pear flavours add depth, followed by a touch of citrus on the finish. A superb white combining complexity and richness with an impressively long finish!

The estate : Since 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard have managed this absolute reference of Pessac-Léognan that is the Château Smith Haut Lafitte. And what a journey it has been! While today the estate’s wines are among the very best in the region, the vineyards were almost abandoned at the time of the couple’s acquisition! Having detected the fantastic potential of this gravelly terroir, the Cathiards have indeed succeeded in radically transforming the estate. Today, the vineyard covers 80 hectares (68 red and 12 white), officially certified organic since the 2019 vintage, allowing the production of wines of absolutely magnificent finesse and complexity.
