The AOC Muscat de Rivesaltes covers 90 communes and nearly 2 900 hectares. It is located in the Roussillon and specializes in the production of Vins Doux Naturels based on the Muscat d'Alexandrie and Muscat à petits grains grape varieties. These varieties produce very aromatic wines, evolving on exotic notes, white fruits as well as floral aromas. These are made by mutage, which means adding wine alcohol to stop the alcoholic fermentation and preserve the sugars naturally present in the grapes.
