The AOC Beaune is an appellation created in 1936, part of the Côte de Beaune and located between Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pommard. Covering a little more than 400 hectares of which 85% are planted with Pinot Noir, the appellation has 42 classified climats in Premier Cru (representing 70% of the vineyard) including the famous Clos des Mouches. The terroir here is clay-limestone and there is a great diversity of cuvées, but the red wines are rather racy and powerful, sometimes deserving to wait 10 to 20 years. The white wines , on the other hand, are more intended to be consumed in their youth.
