The brand : Created in 2016, the Waterford distillery is a true UFO in the world of whisky ! At the origin of this brilliant project is a great figure in the spirits industry : Mark Reynier. With extensive experience in the sector, he had notably already brought back to life the Scottish distillery Bruichladdich. With Waterford, from the very beginning there was a clear intention: to produce exceptional Single Malts thanks to local barley, all with the greatest possible transparency and total traceability. The choice to establish the distillery in the southeast of Ireland is therefore no coincidence : it is indeed in the land of the shamrock that you find the highest quality barley in the world (even the Scots say so!). In partnership with a hundred local farms and thanks to plot-by-plot monitoring, the company created the concept of Single Farm Origin, meaning for a whisky that its barley comes from only one farm and therefore from a very specific terroir. A vision offering many analogies with the world of wine but a complete revolution for the sector...some vintages are even certified  organic and biodynamic !
