The spirit: This exquisite Japanese Whiskey is a Single Grain, i.e. a compound whiskey from a blend of cereals (mainly corn) from a single distillery. Making a perfect junction between the character of a traditional whiskey and the indulgence of a bourbon, this Coffey Grain displays its charming style and develops in the mouth with chocolate, cocoa and roasted aromas giving it an inimitable style while roundness. An absolute treat that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or as a dessert with a square of chocolate.

The brand: Born in 1894 within a family of sake producers, Masataka Taketsuru is today considered the father of Japanese whiskey. After training as a chemist, he was hired by the Settsu Shuzo company which sent him to Scotland in 1918 to complete his apprenticeship. Masataka then developed a passion for whiskey and decided to dedicate his life to it. In 1934, he built Yoichi, his first distillery, on the island of Hokkaido. His growing success allowed him to establish a second one in 1969 near Sendai: Miyagikyo. It is from the single malts of these two distilleries that the group Nikka today offers its splendid and renowned range of Japanese whiskeys.
