The wine : For once, this Meursault 1er Cru Santenots from Domaine Jacques Prieur is an absolute success. Coming from a plot with clay-limestone soils facing East, this terroir allows for harvesting grapes at perfect ripeness and offers very graceful balances. A long aging of 19 months in barrels brings here an indulgent roundness with notes of butter, brioche and vanilla as well as toasted aromas, balancing the saline minerality that runs through this exceptional bottle. A top-flight cuvée, perfectly mastered and capable of long aging!

The estate : Installed in the commune of Meursault since the 19th century, the Domaine Jacques Prieur boasts an exceptional heritage of vines comprising 21 hectares (11 ha of Pinot Noir and 10 ha of Chardonnay). The brand notably owns magnificent plots on the Grands Crus Musigny, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Corton-Charlemagne, Clos de Vougeot, and Montrachet. Fourteen prestigious Premiers Crus as well as the splendid Clos de Mazeray monopole complete the panorama. While the estate’s history is long and rich, it is the Labruyère family who, for over 30 years and still supported by the Prieur family, continues to enhance this Burgundian wine jewel. Daniel Godefroy (the vineyard manager) and Nadine Gublin (the estate’s oenologist) ensure that their terroirs are showcased through sustainable vineyard management as well as high-precision vinifications. Welcome to this legendary Burgundy estate, a must-know!
