The wine : Located on the Corton hill in Côte de Beaune, the Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne covers 72 hectares and produces some of the most legendary white wines in the world. The Jacques Prieur estate’s plot covers 0.22 hectares, facing due east, with a very steep and chalky soil, allowing for the expression of magnificent minerality.
We are clearly entering here the absolute pinnacle of Chardonnay. Aged for 22 months in oak barrels, this incredible wine expresses power and richness in a masterful balance. Finely spiced notes (vanilla, nutmeg) mingle with a touch of butter as well as aromas of toasted bread and hazelnut. A mouthwatering minerality is also present throughout the tasting, finishing with dazzling length. A truly Great Wine in every sense of the word, which can be cellared for nearly two decades... if patience is your ally.

The estate : Established in the village of Meursault since the 19th century, the Jacques Prieur estate boasts an exceptional vineyard heritage of 21 hectares (11 ha of Pinot Noir and 10 ha of Chardonnay). The brand notably owns magnificent plots on the Grands Crus Musigny, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Corton-Charlemagne, Clos de Vougeot, and Montrachet. Fourteen prestigious Premiers Crus as well as the splendid Clos de Mazeray monopole complete the panorama. While the property’s history is long and rich, it is the Labruyère family who, for over 30 years and still supported by the Prieur family, continues to enhance this Burgundian wine jewel. Daniel Godefroy (the vineyard manager) and Nadine Gublin (the estate’s oenologist) are dedicated to showcasing their terroirs through sustainable vineyard management and highly precise winemaking. Welcome to this legendary Burgundy estate, an absolute must-know!
