The wine : The vintage "Coteaux Calcaires" (formerly "Réserve") from the Barmès-Buecher family is a reference Pinot noir in Alsace which aging in old oak barrels for 10 months allows the development of a delightful body. The palate is juicy, gourmand, mineral and reveals notes of black cherry, blackberry, strawberry and raspberry. A spicy touch of pepper and vanilla completes an aromatic palette of beautiful complexity. An Alsatian delicacy that can be enjoyed now but which will give its best after a few years of aging.

The estate : Located in Wettolsheim near Colmar and founded in 1985 by Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès, the domaine Barmès-Buecher is one of the jewels of wine-growing Alsace. The conversion to biodynamic agriculture took place early in 1998 and it is their children Maxime (viticulture and winemaking) and Sophie (communication and sales) who today mainly take care of the 18-hectare property. 95% of it is planted in white (mainly Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris), and growing on a large mosaic of terroirs specific to Alsace (clay-limestone, marl-sandstone, granite etc.). The family vineyard produces wines of great purity with a beautiful aging capacity, particularly for the Grands Crus. The yeasts are obviously indigenous and very little sulfur is used in winemaking.
