The wine : The Puligny-Montrachet village from Domaine Alain Chavy elegantly expresses all the finesse and complexity of a great Burgundy Chardonnay. The nose opens with subtle aromas of white flowers, citrus, and white-fleshed fruits (notably peach and pear), supported by a delicate mineral touch, a signature of Puligny's limestone soils. On the palate, the texture is of great purity, both ample and taut, with beautiful freshness and a persistent finish, marked by saline and slightly buttery notes. This top-level bottle pairs perfectly with fine fish, poultry in sauce, or fine cheeses. A must-have for lovers of great Burgundy whites!

The estate : The Chavy are a great family of winemakers from Puligny-Montrachet. In 1997, brothers Alain and Jean-Louis took over their father Gérard Chavy’s estate. In 2003, they decided to create two separate vineyards and thus divided the family estate equally. Today, Alain manages 10 hectares of vines, mainly in AOC Puligny-Montrachet, where he has numerous 1er cru plots as well as a few rows of vines on the legendary Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet. Harvesting is done by hand, the terroir is clay-limestone, and the wines are generally aged for 1 year in barrels before being finished with 6 months in tank to bring everything together. All the cuvées are of excellent quality, and finesse as well as minerality are the common markers of Alain Chavy’s wines.
