The estate : No introduction needed for Alain Brumont ! An iconic figure of the Madiran appellation, he has, over 40 years, brought his estates to the top of the South-West region and highlighted the incredible potential of the local Tannat grape variety.

It all began in 1979 when he inherited the family's 17 hectares at Château Bouscassé. Then, in the early 1980s, he acquired Château Montus and met Baron Philippe de Rothschild at Château Mouton-Rothschild (Grand Cru Classé of the Pauillac AOC): that was the turning point. Particularly inspired by their exchanges, he now openly displays his vision of producing great wines in Madiran, an appellation then mainly known for its rustic wines.

The first vintage of Château Montus in 1982 made a big splash: the press praised the work done while the French and international markets discovered a noble, powerful wine with definite aging potential. Since then, he has never stopped searching for and selecting the best terroirs in his native region. Now at the head of 250 hectares, Vignobles Brumont continue to be an absolute reference throughout the South-West and Alain, although still involved, has now handed over the reins of the estate to his son-in-law Antoine Veiry. Discover their magnificent cuvées here—you won't regret it!
